Clarkdale Fire & Rescue was formed in 1971 as Clarkdale Volunteer Fire Department. We achieved a class 8 rating from the state rating bureau in 1994.
 
The department serves parts of Northern Clarke County and Southern Lauderdale County in Mississippi (map) from two (2) stations. Our district covers an area of approximately fifty-eight square miles, from the Meridian city limits in Lauderdale County southward to two miles south of State Highway 514 in Clarke County.
 
Included in our district are approximately eighteen hundred structures with a population of forty-five hundred people, several peach farms, twenty-three small businesses, ten churches, two television stations, one radio station and a nine hundred fifty student K-12 school.
